about Saba Ardeshiri

Saba Ardeshiri is an artist and designer whose work explores memory, material culture, and spatial storytelling. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and book-making, she investigates how space can hold emotion, history, and transformation. With a background in architecture and engineering—including a Master of Architecture from Columbia University—Saba brings a tactile, research-driven approach to her practice, often engaging ephemeral materials and speculative archives to question how we build, preserve, and relate to the environments we inhabit. Born in Tehran and based in New York City, her work is shaped by lived experiences across Iran, Canada, and the United States. She has taught at Columbia GSAPP and currently teaches at NJIT Hillier College of Architecture and Design. Saba is the recipient of the 2023 Architecture + Design Independent Projects Grant from The Architectural League of New York and co-founder of mediumsof.design, a research collective dedicated to interdisciplinary inquiry.
